Petrie Creek Bushcarers restore habitat

Gail Hill and Sameer Punde, pictured above, plant a Pararistolochia praevenosa vine (Richmond Birdwing Butterfly critical plants) during a major activity in June at the BushCare site on the banks of Petrie Creek near the Rugby ovals at Woombye in June.

This was one of 50 vines that were donated to our native animal habitat restoration activities by the team from Sunshine Coast Council that is doing maintenance on the old rubbish dump nearby.

A big help to the biodiversity of plants and wildlife in the area.

Next opportunity to join us in these BushCare events on Petrie Ck will be at:

• Namba Creek on Saturday 16 July starting at 8am. (meet in The Model Railway Park off Florence St Nambour)

• Gulung Gung on Wednesday 27 July starting at 8am. This is a special being combined with the National Tree Day planting. (meet in the NE corner of the carpark at Aldi off Howard St Nambour.)

To join in the activities at these events you’ll need to come in “long everything” bush protective clothing including boots/shoes and a hat. All tools required will be provided
